環境圖形設計涉及圖形設計、建筑設計、室內設計、景觀設計和工業設計等眾多領域的設計規則，不僅與視覺傳達、標識識別和信息傳達相關，還要有空間設計意識。
從1998年開始，SEGD每一年都會評選出優秀的設計作品，并且在春季召開的SEGD成員會議上宣布，作品也將在隨后的展覽中展出。
